THE Lakhwani Scholarships for men

This scholarship awards two Burundian American male students with funds of $500 each to be used to support with completion of an undergraduate degree

program. Recipients must be residents of Kentucky and must commit to participating in the Tuvugane Scholars mentorship program. Candidates are evaluated based on merit and by their career promise based on their personal, academic, and professional career goals.

 

The scholarship is administered by Tuvugane, a Louisville, KY - based youth networking platform to advance contribution towards the development of

Burundian communities.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD?

 

The purpose of this award is (1) to support two male students with completion of their undergraduate degree program (2) to celebrate the accomplishments of two Burundian American students residing in Kentucky (3) to encourage the recipient to persist in their career goals, and (3) to provide an opportunity for the recipients to further explore their potential by participating in the Tuvugane scholars mentorship program.

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

 

Eligibility for this grant is limited to Burundian American men residing in the state of Kentucky, in the United States.


WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?

 

The application deadline is April 1, 2025

 

The award will be announced on May 24, 2025 at the Fifth annual Tuvugane Awards celebration. 

 

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE LAKHWANI SCHOLARSHIP?


  To apply for this scholarship, candidates must submit all appropriate documentation to Tuvugane with the below link, no later than 10:00 p.m. E.S.T, April 1, 2025.


Applications that do not have all requested material by April 1st will NOT be eligible for the award.

 

The following materials should be submitted via the linked form below. YOUR NAME SHOULD NOT BE ON THESE DOCUMENTS

 

●      A resume indicating relevant academic and work history.  

●      A personal statement (maximum 500 words) outlining why the recipients should be selected to receive the award, how this award will support completion of their undergraduate degree program, and their career goals. The committee will prioritize applications with strong merits and a concise description of how the applicant would benefit from this award.

 

The following materials should also be sent to Tuvugane15@gmail.com. with the subject LAKHWANI SCHOLARSHIP YOUR NAME SHOULD BE ON THESE DOCUMENTS

 

●      One (1) letter of recommendation. This can be an academic or community reference. A second letter is optional.

These letters must be submitted via Tuvugane’s E-mail and sent by the person recommending the student. Letters of recommendation must be received no later than the deadline.
